Pre-Raid and Raid BiS Gear Lists

Pre-Raid BiS

Below you'll find a Pre-raid Best in Slot List, below that is the T14 BiS list. I know fate can be cruel so I've tried to list at least three items for each slot. I've ordered everything from best to worst so try to go for whatever is on top. Trinkets are subjective (as always) and will change on a fight to fight basis.

Helm:

Neck:

Shoulders:

Chest:

Gloves:

Wrists:

Belt:

Legs:

Feet:

Back:

Rings:

Trinkets:

Trinkets are one of those things that change depending on the fight so don't take this list as a BiS one. Choose from among them, try to collect them all, and swap them out for different fights if you feel one would do better than the other.

Weapon:

BiS T14

Below is a list of BiS gear for normal and heroic T14. Some pieces won't be available until Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Springs is released.

You can find this list in the Tanking Guide along with some more information.

Taking the War out of Warcraft

So I've been wanting to do this forever and with the changes in the 5.0.4 patch I decided now would be a good time to start. I'm going to attempt to level a Druid from 1 to 85, and eventually 90, without unnecessary killing. I'm going to see how far I can get by attempting to be a pacifist.

Arhuul Meet Arhuul, our life loving Tauren Druid. He's always believed that life is sacred and should be respected. Killing anything with sentience, anything aware of it's own consciousness, has been something Arhuul has been strictly against. Being raised in a Tauren society has allowed him to understand the necessity of the hunt. Using the creatures the Earth Mother has given them to survive and prosper. He can bring himself to kill a beast if the cause is justified and when he does he ensures nothing goes to waste. The animal should be respected for it's contributions.

His father used to be an adventurer and has explained to him the workings of elementals and demons. He's explained how elementals normally exist in their own plane but sometimes manage to slip into our realm. And that by defeating them, you're breaking the bindings that hold them in Azeroth and banish them back to their own plane. His father also explained how demons work in a similar manner, getting banished back to the Twisting Nether after being slain. He remembers his father stressing how demons are creatures of great evil and that he should not hesitate in striking them down if him and a demon ever come face-to-face.

His father also mentioned how in some places the dead walk the earth and plague the land. After doing some thinking, Arhuul decided that he would like to cleanse these places if possible. But he'll leave putting the dead to rest to someone more capable if at all possible.

With the backstory out of the way, here are some rules I've laid down for myself:
-Cannot kill anything labeled as a humanoid or dragonkin.
-Cannot kill any beasts without the quest giving a justified answer. (This will most likely result in only taking quests from Tauren or the Cenarion Circle.)
-Demons, Elementals, and Undead can be dealt with, but only if necessary. (Living plants that are labeled as elementals don't count since they're only labeled this way due to game mechanics.)
-If at all possible, just don't kill anything.

I can already tell this is going to be a long process but hopefully it will be fun and an interesting way to play. Future posts regarding this will be in the form of journal entries written by Arhuul.

Tanking Guide

I've put up a tanking guide for patch 5.0.4 which I will be keeping up to date so that it continues to stay relevant through Mists launch and beyond

You can check it out here.

Bearcatting is Dead and Blizz Wants it to Stay Dead

Just a post showing one of our new level 90 talents which has us changing our current role to fill a different one for 45 seconds every 6 minutes, Heart of the Wild.

Did some testing with HotW going from Guardian to Balance and Feral. Had full PvP 483 gear, no gems or enchants, and only MotW up on myself. I did five separate tests for each combination and was attacking the Raider's Training Dummy in Thunder Bluff. For comparison sake, I also DPS'd the dummy five separate times in bear form for 45 seconds each (length of HotW) to see how much damage I would be gaining/losing by changing my role if I was at zero Vengeance to begin with.

As you can see, going from bear to boomkin and just spamming wrath is doing the most damage. Not very exciting, as you can imagine. I'm sure the numbers will be tweaked with before the expansion hits to get cat DPS up to par with boomkin. And I'm sure boomkin will also see a slight damage reduction, seeing as how some DPS aren't able to pull off the same DPS in equivalent gear. Also hoping that they adjust the numbers some more so that we're not having to switch weapons to maxamize DPS.

Bearwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest

So after continually twisting the arm of my guildmates I finally completed my legendary staff. Considering the fact that the only time I go Balance is when I want to moonfire spam low level mobs I decided to bear-ify the thing and loltank with it when I'm bored (or i forget to take it off while running around in dragon form and pull something). So I present to you [Bearwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest] and I've already had some fun results with it. The proc on it is only effected by damaging spells. Bears do have a spell, Faerie Fire. One of our "spells" that should not be on the spell hit table but for now I'll allow it. When the staff procs it duplicates the damage, so if it crits the staff proc will also crit. Ignoring all the humorous whispers I've gotten about it the one thing that made using the staff worth it was killing a level 84 gnome trying to escape me with Faerie Fire. Some guildies asked for my help with the Crucible of Carnage, easy enough. 30 second flight after taking the portal in Org. So while we're in the middle of fighting the Worgen guy a feral druid shows up and trys to get some easy kills. Unfortunately for him I'm sitting at almost full vengeance and I just tear into him. The other Alliance with him (who I'm assuming were there to help the gnome mage) jump into the frey as well. They managed to kill one of my guildies before I had a nice little pile of bodies at my feet. Only one still alive was the gnome mage who, after seeing that everyone else is dead, attempts to escape. The other guildie I was helping was a Death Knight and he death grips him to us. I get a couple of hits in before he blinks away. And as he hobbles up the hill in a vain attempt to escape us I cast Faerie Fire. Being the amazing bear that I am I crit for 10k. Tarecgosa decides she also wants in on the fun and duplicates my 10k crit! So I hit this gnome square in the back with two 10k Faerie Fires in quick succession and his face hits the dirt. Seeing this I can't help but burst out laughing. Best staff moment yet.

Druids and Transmogrification

I love the transmogrification system. I've been changing my armor set every week since 4.3 launched. The fact that I can't see my armor while shape-shifted doesn't bother me at all because I also enjoy my different forms. What I would like to see is the ability to transmogrify my forms to look like a different version of the same animal. I got the idea while fighting the vibrant blue wintry treants in Winterspring and thinking to myself "It would be really cool if I could make the Tree of Life form look like that."

So the idea would be that you'd go out into the world, into Storm Peaks lets say, and kill Icemaw Bears. The bears would have a chance at dropping an item, maybe their essence, that you could then take to the Ethereals and pop into a slot in the transmogrification window altering your bear form to look like an Icemaw Bear. This could give druids the ability to customize their forms and give them even more unique feel rather than the varying colors of the same form.
